All parents always wonder about what is a good bike for a nine year old boy. I remember wondering whether a mountain boys bike is a good idea or whether I should go for something else. With time I have learned that there are a few things you have to keep in mind when choosing a bike for a nine year old boy. Read on for some advice.
There are a few things you have to keep in mind when you are considering a bike for your boy. The most important is to keep in mind that he is going to outgrow the bike within a few years. So, spending too much on it will be a waste. On the other hand you also do not want to buy complete rubbish that is not going to last him as long as it needs to.
The second thing you need to keep in mind is that nine year old boys are still pretty rough. His bike is going to have to be able to withstand quite a bit of abuse. This is why I think a mountain bike is a good idea. A mountain bike tends to be a little sturdier than the lightweight road race bikes. Time for those later when he knows how to look after his bike.
Even though you do not want to pay too much for the bike, you still want a bike that is good and strong. You do want him to learn how to use the gears, so the gears must be of a good quality otherwise he is not going to learn anything at all. You will be able to get very cheap boxed bikes, but I can assure you that it will not be a good buy. Even though you are looking at a mountain boys bike, you still want it to be a reasonably good one.
So, when thinking about a bike for a nine year old boy, a mountain boys bike is not a bad idea. He will get many happy hours
