Recommended beginner mountain bikes? and what to look for.?
Hey everybody, I'm looking into buying a mountain bike for taking it on trails, uphill and downhill on steep hills/mountains (I live in Scotland). So far I've narrowed it down to these but if you have any better suggestion I'll gladly consider them

Extra details include: I'm 6 ft (roughly 180-183 cm) tall, about 12.5 stone (roughly 175 lbs)
I can speak highly of the GT Avalanche 3.0 that you have chosen since I sell it and am very familiar with it. I would look too at the 2.0 as well but you really haven't picked any bad bikes overall. Look at getting the best component group on any of these that you can. Overall the frames are practically the same and components are the selling point to look at more than anything else! When you get into a price range such as this most will practically the same overall and you are really comparing red apples to green apples...
