How to start off a letter ?
Hello (:
For my ICT coursework we have to loads of different stuff and we have to design a mountain bike park (eww.). Anyways, I've made a logo, and now i have to write a letter to potential users of the park.
So, which side do i put the mountain bike address on, and who do I address it to? Like what do I put after DEAR ?

For my coursework, we have to "design" a mountain bike park. I have made a logo for the mountain bike park. Now, my task is to send out letters to the potential users of the park explaining about all the different things the park has in it. What side does the mountain bike park address have to go on and how do I start off the letter. E.G. some letters start with "Dear Sir/Madam", how should i start mine?

Sabrina, you should design a complete LETTERHEAD which includes the address and any other permanent information about the park.
So the address should be included as part of the actual entire DESIGN of the Park's letterhead stationary itself. The total design would include:
~ The logo
~ Any slogan or words
~ The address, phone number, web site
This letterhead is the same for any and all letters that the park writes. You can use fancy fonts, matching colors for the logo and the font, and so on. It should be an attractive, well-balanced design.
Then what is added new each time is just the date and then the content of the letter.

Another option is to design the Park's stationary so that the information is part of a decorative footer, rather than up at the top. This kind of design is extremely popular. Here's an example:

You can even skip the "Dear Person" kind of greeting completely if you want. You can start off with an opening like one of these:

The "complimentary close" just above the signature can also be a saying, rather than the kind of thing used in formal business letters.
Instead of "Yours truly," you can close with

and then the signature
(with the person's job title underneath it -- Park President or whatever)
