Hey does anyone know a website where I could get free sheet music for "In The Hall Of The Mountain King? for the Baritone Saxophone? The original piece, not the one from Apocalyptica.
You could do the correct and legal thing of actually buying it. I guarantee the site listed above is breaking copyright law a thousand times over. This piece is copyright protected and carries a $100,000 fine PER OFFENSE of taking it. If you go to www.jwpepper.com and buy a tuba version of it for $4.95. I know it sounds weird, but you can read it really easily. You just read it as if the notes are written on treble clef, and change the key (if the key is Bb for example, it would be G for bari sax). If the note for tuba is a D (in bass clef) it reads as a B for you.
She is still wrong. Since the song has been republished with newer editions, it is not in the public domain. The rights have been bought, probably by Grieg's family or a publishing company. Any new editions cancel the old edition and therefore it is not in the public domain. Go ahead, look at the site. Look at the copyright info and I would put money that it is within the last 10 years. I've studied copyright laws for music and very little music is in the public domain because it is bought and re-published.
