My bike's wheels and seats were stolen, frame intact. Would it make sense to get them replaced?
Sigh, I know, stolen. The frame's still intact, so are the brakes, chain, and everything else. Just the wheels and seats were stolen, which, actually, makes up 99% of the bike's most important parts! Anyways, in general, would it make sense to just replace them? Or would getting a new bike be cheaper? My mountain bike (wasn't pro or anything) costs $400, more or less.
Impossible to say, since we can't see your bike and don't know its condition or what its worth.
Price out the parts at Nashbar or Performance vs. a new bike. Its a close call. If its a nice bike, and you catch a break on sales, it might be worthwhile.
If someone did that to me, I have enough spares in the basement to fix it right up, but my everyday bike has enough miles on it that I'd probably buy a new one.
