cant decide on all mountain bike set up?
hi i am using a boardman team fs bike but have a ew parts and cant decide what to use. i have a two month ld set of shimano saint brakes that only work on 203mm rotors which i have, they use xt combine brake and gear levers. i love the power of these but was surprised to find the avid elixcer r brakes had similar power with much smaller rotors and i also have a set of these. if i ran these id have to use separate shifters of which i have a pair of sram x7. i have an xt shadow rear mech, an x9 rear mech and an x7 front mech and cannot decide what to use?
i dont know if a full sram setup is better due to the 1.1 as oposed to 2.1 any ideas re welcome i dont really want to purchase new parts.
I have juicy 7's 185s and x.9 rear and xtr front with x.9 shifters, it works well for me. Personally I won't go back to shimano because I like the 1:1 shifting so much more. I needed an N type front derailluer and the bike shop only had an xtr n type so I just got it.
I think the bigger diameter rotor will be better in the long run especially with prolonged freeride/ downhill use, but you can just switch over from the 160 to 203 with a $10 adapter from avid.
Sell the other stuff on ebay or keep as a backup.
