Can I use shimano style cables with my new SRAM force groupo?
Do i need to get SRAM specific cables?
Yes, all road bike cables are essentially the same. The Shimano "style" is different from SRAM in that Shimano uses the looped bug antenna style for the derailleur cables -- but the cables aren't different.
I don't think it's a good idea to reuse old cables and housings when you change groups. It's a good time to go new, and won't cost you much.
SRAM Force is a terrific gruppo. Built a bike for my niece 2 weeks ago with it and now my nephew has ordered Force parts for his Kuota and we're going to swap that out tonight. I'm a Campy guy, but I'm very impressed with SRAM. I like the Force group even better than the Red, which is a bit gaudy for my tastes.
